Walking for my boy

I was in two minds about partaking on this walk, not at all because it is in anyway an unworthy cause but more than anything because it is such a new part of my life and unfamiliar territory that I’m still learning about and processing.

A few weeks ago our oldest son Myles ( 5 years old) suddenly started having seizures. At first they were occasional and I hadn’t actually realised they were seizures and thought they were panic attacks but when their frequency increased and I realised that he would loose his ability to stand up and that he would become cognitively impaired during these events, did I come to the daunting realisation that these were seizures. Prior to this my understanding of how seizures presented was very limited. 

On September 14th my little boys’ suspected seizure events became too frequent for me to wait for our turn on the paediatric neurologists triage list and we went to ED. On our way to ED our little guy had 3 seizures and somewhere in the realm of 15-20 seizures that day. During our stay in hospital we received a diagnosis of epilepsy. We are in the process of waiting for a EEG and MRI to learn more about his condition. Whilst we wait for the next steps this walk felt like a great way to expel some of my anxious energy whilst breathing positivity into the situation. At a time where I feel lost of what I should do, this is an opportunity to shine a light on epilepsy and help raise funds toward a condition that is now close to my heart.
