We've created this team because..

My our beautiful, cheeky, kind, funny, animal obsessed Hamish lives with Epilepsy.  

Hamish was diagnosed back in January of 2021 at just age 2yrs. From then he struggled to gain any seizure control through medication and was referred to QCH, where we met a neurologist who instantly took on Hamish's case. She was quick to diagnose Hamish with a rare epilepsy syndrome called Epilepsy with Myoclonic Atonic Seizures (EMAS) or commonly known as Doose Syndrome. 

After another 9 months of trialing a cocktail of anti-epileptic medications, and they too all failing to control his seizures. Hamish's Neurologist classed his Epilepsy as Refractory, meaning resistant to medication. From then she started Hamish on a Modified Ketogenic Diet as a means for him to gain seizure control. We started this back in January 2023 and he's still on the diet today. During this time Hamish has successfully weaned of two medications and this year has gained his longest seizure threshold of 4 months and counting!! Hamish's journey with Epilepsy is still uncertain, however we are taking this massive win of him becoming seizure free for all its worth! And watching him going from surviving to now thriving, is nothing short of Amazing! Hamish is the bravest little soul you will ever meet! 

From supporting Hamish every day and our family being a part of Hamish's epilepsy journey, is why I am so passionate about raising money and to help make a difference for people living with epilepsy.
